Bird borrows former Quaker
After spells at Newcastle and Carlisle, midfielder David McLean firmly established himself as a professional footballer during a seven-year stay at Darlington. He left Feethams in 1986 to join Scunthorpe and it was from the Iron that John Bird signed him on loan in March 1987. He played six times for the club.
