Midfielder Danny Byrne was a promising member of Manchester United`s successful youth team for a few years. In late 2004, Neale Cooper brought the young Irishman to Pools on loan and Byrne featured in three games but failed to make much of an impression before returning to Old Trafford. He was released by Manchester United a year later and joined Conference South outfit Weymouth before being released by the south coast club in the summer of 2005.
