Carl Jones

Young centre-half Carl Jones signed his first professional contract in 2005. His performances in training impressed Martin Scott and he forced his way into the first team reckoning in the 2005/06 pre-season. A nasty head injury sustained in a friendly saw him miss the start of the season and, in his absence, Neill Collins had arrived on loan from Sunderland and established himself as Michael Nelson`s regular partner at centre-back.

Jones made his first-team debut against Yeovil as cover for Collins who was on international duty with Scotland under-21s. He received another setback when he was injured in his next appearance at Scunthorpe. In his absence Ben Clark established himself at centre-half and Jones left the club in 2007. He later played for York City and Gateshead.
