Steadying the ship
With Pools battling to avoid dropping out of the Football League in 1997, manager Mick Tait signed experienced former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest midfielder Mark proctor. The veteran proved to be a steadying influence during his brief spell at the club, and he played a useful role in helping Pools avoid the threat of the drop.
