The Victoria Ground played host to our neighbours from across the Tees after financial problems had led to the locking of the Ayresome Park gates. Pools played a home game against Cardiff earlier in the day, with Boro playing Port Vale shortly afterwards. Colin Cooper, who would be named Pools manager in 2013, played in the game.
