But he never managed to get a game ahead of established keepers Martin Hollund and Andy Dibble. After leaving Pools in 2000 he tried his luck in Ireland before returning to the North-East and playing for a number of local non-league clubs. His brother Glen, a defender, was also on Hartlepool`s books for a while. |

Brighton and Hove Albion 5-0 Pools Chris Beech was sent off as Pools crashed 5-0 at the famous `Fans United` game at Brighton. Fans of the financially stricken Seagulls had used the game as a rallying point and invited neutral fans from all over the country. They were rewarded with an outstanding performance, with Craig Maskell getting a hat-trick in front of the highest attendance of any game in the division so far that season. Whatever positive effect the day had on Brighton`s fortunes it was a hammer blow for Pools, who started the game sixteen points ahead of their opponents. By the time we next won a game that gap was down to five points and we were deep in relegation trouble. |
| 2003 |
Pools 2-1 Exeter City Pools left it late before goals in the last 15 minutes from Ritchie Humphreys and Adam Boyd ended Exeter`s resistance. The win extended the lead over Rushden and Diamonds at the top of Division Three to ten points. |
| 2006 | Manager Martin Scott left the club following a short period of suspension. |
