Darlington 1-1 Pools A stunning performance from Darlington goalkeeper Andy Collett meant that Pools had to settle for a 1-1 draw for the fourth match in a row. Collett produced a string of blinding saves to keep out Chris Turner`s promotion chasers and almost inspired his side to victory. When the keeper was finally beaten it was from the most unlikely of sources, with Darren Knowles registering only his second (and last) goal for the club. |
| 2006 |
Pools 3-1 Huddersfield Town In arguably their best performance of the season, Pools beat a strong Huddersfield side to ease the pressure a little at the bottom of the League One table. Adam Boyd opened the scoring with his last goal before his transfer to Luton in the summer, while Joel Porter announced his return from long-term injury with the decisive third. But the goal of the night was scored by Michael Maidens with a stunning 30 yard curler into the top left corner. The goal was later voted the club`s best of the 2005/06 season and was the only one that Maidens scored for the first team before his tragic death in 2007. |
