A star is born
Ambrose Gerald Fogarty was born on this day in 1933. Inside forward Amby spent much of his English career with Sunderland, but moved to Pools in November 1963. It was while at Pools that he played for Ireland in their 1964 European Championship quarter-final against Spain, making him the club's first (and so far only) full international.
